Return to the days of art deco lounges, speakeasies, and bootleg booze. Located on Capitol Hill, a block from the Eastern Market metro, the 18th offers two distinctive bars, billiards, flat screens, and a late night kitchen. Join us at the 18th for great food and drink!
Prohibition ended 7 decades ago in the District, but a new Capitol Hill bar, the 18th Amendment returns to the days of speakeasies and bootleg booze. Named after the Amendment that started prohibition, the 18th Amendment, located at 613 Pennsylvania Ave SE has something for everyone.
18th Amendment patrons can choose between two distinctive bar settings. The main floor brings back the New York and Chicago art deco era of the 20’s and 30’s. Framed mirrors, a chrome ceiling and black and white tiled floor, wood with chrome accents, and a distinguished bar set the tone. The amply sized bar has 8 beers on tap, a large selection of bottles, and high end liquors. The main level features a comfortable lounge area, internet jukebox, flat screen TVs, and a billiards table.
Keyhole
Through the back hallway and down the staircase sits the Keyhole, a basement bar channeling the days of gangsters and bootleggers. The speakeasy and gaming room includes furniture made from old whiskey boxes, beer barrels, and pews. Stained glass, bar rails, and an iron gated liquor room complement the hideout. Patrons can enjoy eight beers on tap, billiard tables, and an internet juke box.
The menu at 18th Amendment includes a variety of appetizers, personal pizzas, and panini sandwiches. The tavern will feature happy hour and daily food and drink specials. Our signature cocktails include a variety of infused vokdas and fresh fruit martinis.
